Massage Description & Pricing

Revitalise your senses!

Whether you want to relax, or go a little deeper and address specific problem areas, YOUR integrative massage will be tailored to YOUR needs.

Your massage can include various styles and techniques such as:

Swedish Massage is typically a more relaxing, flowy massage session. It usually consists of long, smooth, lighter, more flowy strokes. Pressure can vary from extremely light to firmer pressure.

Deep Tissue Massage targets multiple layers from the superficial facia to the deeper underlying muscle layers. Often people ask for a Deep Tissue Massage when what they really want is deeper pressure. Deep Tissue work may include several techniques such as myofacial work, slow stripping of tissues and trigger point therapies to warm and soften the area. These techniques are usually only utilized at the specific areas of concern rather than a whole body therapy. Pressure and speed both can be altered to your comfort level.

The Lauterstein Deep Massage targets the facia and uses no lotion/lubricant. It feels very deep without being sharp, forceful or aggressive.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. It is extremely gently, utilizing approx 5 grams of pressure.

Your massage may also include some stretching, compression, kneading, tapping, friction and rocking. You’ll always have great music, aromatherapy, a warm table and warm towels available to you.

    Benefits of Massage

Learn more about the benefits of Massage!

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:

    • Decreased anxiety.
    • Enhanced sleep quality.
    • Greater energy.
    • Improved concentration.
    • Increased circulation.
    • Reduced fatigue.

Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues. Bodywork can:

    • Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
    • Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
    • Ease medication dependence.
    • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.
    • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
    • Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
    • Improve the condition of the body's largest organ—the skin.
    • Increase joint flexibility.
    • Lessen depression and anxiety.
    • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
    • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
    • Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
    • Reduce spasms and cramping.
    • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
    • Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.
    • Relieve migraine pain.

    Our FAQ

    Frequent Questions

Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lay on a table especially designed for your comfort. A face-up or face-down position will be determined after our discussion of your needs this session.

    Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session. A Cranial Sacral session is generally a clothes-on session.

Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet and blanket.

Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed. You can always request more blankets. A sheet is required.

What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. Those needing breast massage will be referred to a therapist that specializes in this type of work.

What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
A relaxing Swedish massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.

What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

    Focus on Wellness

    Sick-Care vs Well-Care

I’ve seen a lot of changes in the healthcare environment in the last 30 years. There was a time when the person, the patient was the priority. Now it is about the bottom-line. The Insurance Company decides on the care, not the healthcare team. Their motto seems to be to “get them in and get them out”. Your care, or length of stay is as long as insurance says they'll pay. This fast-food type environment has all but removed any human interaction. I cringe every time I drive by the "Human Care" billboard here in Austin. The nurse no longer has time with the patient. The doctor really doesn't have time for them either. Healing takes time. It takes touch. It takes someone willing to hear you, see you, and genuinly interested in helping you help yourself.

Let’s design an integrative massage session that pulls from all of my training in Swedish, Deep-Tissue, Deep Massage: The Lauterstein Method, Zero Balancing, Shiatsu, Cranial Sacral, and The Nemerov Method. Let me help you feel your edges and find your soul again.

  • Healing happens when there is a connection between people.
  • Healing happens when there is touch.
  • Bodywork is the therapeutic answer to healing.
